Prominent Paints is a South African coatings company that has developed quality coatings for over 25 years and strives to become not only the favourite coatings company in South Africa but also to play a worldwide role.

Although we enjoy our leading position in the Johannesburg, we are aiming to increase the footprint in the Western Cape Region. Gaining a loyal customer base is key to our strategy of growing the distribution network.
The acquisition of Neutron Paints, at the end of 2007, was a great opportunity to consolidate our presence and reach our goal. Cape Town based Neutron Paints manufactures and sells high performance and architectural coatings mainly in the Western, Eastern, and Northern Cape region.

We enjoy strong brand awareness with Prominent. We sell via an exclusive, integrated distribution network of trade centres and franchising Prominent Paints shops. We also operate in PMC through the brand Sigma Coatings.

NEWS

The South African affiliate secured a contract
 for the coatings project of a new “state of
the art” terminal and the extension of the
existing runway at Botswana airport.

We expect to complete the project in time for
the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa.

 Sustainability

 A new range of environmentally friendly wood care products from Prominent Paints.

This range of products is new to South Africa and is produced using advanced Hydro Technology. This environmentally friendly technology is tried and trusted and used by PPG Industries throughout the world. Unlike other products,Sherwood contains no harmful solvents, making it very low in odour, effortless to use, extremely quick drying and easy to clean up.

 The notable benefits of using these wood care products are:  

• Non-yellowing formulations, therefore ensuring a true wood grain and colour accuracy.
• Quick-drying with a shorter re-coating time.
• Sherwood products are almost completely odourless.
• Easy to clean; simply use soap and water or a general purpose cleaner. No need for solvents!
• Can be tinted into a wide range of colours.
• The exterior products are UV resistant and can cope with almost all weather conditions

 In understanding that everyone has their personal choice when it comes to colour, Sherwood  Crystal Clear Varnish is available in the following standard wood colours: Dark Oak, Light Oak,  Mahogany, Teak, Imbuia, Oregon, Kiaat, Bamboo and White Wash."
