PPG's Photosol® photochromic dyes can be used to develop products suitable for printing, spraying, exhaust dyeing and extrusion applications. Existing products include textiles that evolve new patterns upon exposure to sunlight/UV radiation; security devices that are observable spectroscopically or by specialized instruments; inks for screen printing; and laminate, automotive, industrial and aerospace coatings.
Photosol photochromic dyes can be imbibed, extruded, injection-molded, cast, or dissolved as an ink. For a short period of time, the dyes can be subjected to processing temperatures of 180°C to 240°C (350°F to 460°F) without degradation.
Thermal degradation is a function of the combination of time and temperature. The shorter the time and the lower the temperature, the less thermal degradation will occur.
Handling and Storage
