Hi-Gard™ Lens Coating Solution
PPG's Hi-Gard lens coating solution is cured to form a scratch resistant coating on ophthalmic lenses made from plastic materials. Hi-Gard is a low viscosity solution which is applied by conventional dip and spin coating methods.
Hi-Gard lens coating is easy to process and can be used with standard dip and spin coating equipment and air circulating ovens. Application of this product results in a coating of uniform thickness (2-4 microns) on the lens. Hi-Gard lens coating is resistant to acetone, isopropyl alcohol and other commonly used eyewear cleansers. The optical quality of plastic lenses is maintained and lenses coated with Hi-Gard lens coating are four to six times more abrasion resistant than uncoated lenses made from CR-39™ monomer.
