Strengthening Mechanical Rubber Goods for Extended Durability
Providing superior strength and durability, PPG Industries offers a wide variety of reinforcing silica products for applications in the mechanical rubber industry.
PPG silica are used in a variety of applications, including improved heat resistance and tear strength that extend fatigue life in industrial belts and hoses, enhanced adhesion in wire and fabric coat compounds, and rapid and easy processing to produce smooth finished surfaces in molded and extruded products.
Specially designed for the mechanical rubber industry, PPG silicas Hi-Sil™, Silene™ and Ciptane™, are reinforcing synthetic, precipitated, hydrophilic, and amorphous silica products that are non-black reinforcing fillers designed for white and colored compounding.
Hi-Sil silica offers enhanced wire adhesion, improved hot tear resistance and improved strength and stiffness, used as either the sole reinforcing filler or in combination with carbon black. In specialty elastomers, Hi-Sil precipitated silica maintains product integrity in extreme long-term heat.
Available in powder, pellet, granule, and micro-granular forms to fit manufacturing requirements, Hi-Sil, Silene, or Ciptane silica are offered in particle size and/or mercapto-silane treatment to yield the optimum balance between reinforcing and processing properties.
PPG silica products are available with a wide range of reinforcing potential. Reinforcing potential increases with increase in surface area (decreasing ultimate particle size).
