Pitt Char XP Cryogenic Exposure

A steel panel coated with Pitt-CharXP Coating was exposed to liquid nitrogen until the surface temperature reached -311°F (-190.5°C) and the backside temperature reached -138.5°F (-94.7°C). The surface had very fine micro cracks, but upon warming back to room temperature the cracks sealed and were not visible. No disbonding occurred. The panel was fire tested and exhibited no loss of fire prolection. The flexibility of Pitt-Char XP Coating allows the coating to relieve internal stresses generated from rapid thermal cycles thus preventing cracking and disbonding. The coating remains intact to provide corrosion and fire protection
