Many fluoropolymers have a similar ingredient – Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000. But similar does not mean equal. Duranar® Coatings stand above the competition because they are manufactured with 80% proprietary PPG products, including:
Proprietary Resin System – 28% of coating formulation. Seventy percent of this resin system is formulated with polyvinylidene fluoride (Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000), while the remaining 30% of the resin system is made with a proprietary PPG resin.
Proprietary PPG Color Pigments – 18% of coating formulation. Tested on literally thousands of exposure sites, none of our proprietary color pigments are added to the Duranar® Coatings palette until they have been exposure-tested under harsh conditions for a minimum of 10 years. By field-testing every color before we add it to the palette, Duranar® Coatings offer the longest color life and chalk resistance in the business.
Proprietary PPG Solvents – 54% of coating formulation. Solvent quality is critical in determining a coating’s ability to achieve the desired consistency, disperse pigment evenly, and ease application.
When you consider all of the ingredients required to make them, identifying Duranar® Coatings as 70% PVDF fluoropolymer coatings sells them short because this “generic” ingredient represents just 20% of the total product. The other 80% consists exclusively of proprietary PPG products – an unequaled formulation.
