Wind Power Jobs: Revitalizing Our Domestic Manufacturing Base
The wind power industry is a bright spot in the U.S. economy, with more than 41 new manufacturing facilities added, expanded or announced since 2007. These new facilities are adding 9,000 employees to the industry’s 50,000‐strong domestic workforce with more being added every day.
PFG Fiber Glass starts third furnace in China
PPG announced it started a third furnace May 2 at the PFG Fiber Glass (Kunshan) Co. Ltd. operation in Kunshan, China, it jointly owns with Nan Ya Plastics Corp. The additional furnace, with 38,000 metric tons of annual capacity, will serve the expanding Asian electronics industries and achieve full production in the coming months.
PPG announces fiber glass price increases for Americas
PITTSBURGH, April 9, 2008 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) fiber glass business announced today it is raising prices effective May 1, or as permissible by contract, for products in the Americas.
$3 million research grant received in North Carolina
N. CAROLINA, Jan. 2008 - PPG has received a $3 million grant for work at its North Carolina Fiber Glass Science & Technology Center in Shelby, North Carolina from U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC). PPG will work to develop new advanced composite military vehicle armor, incorporating technologies from several business units.
PPG Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass to add third furnace
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 9, 2008 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) and Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass Co. Ltd. announced their respective boards of directors have approved the addition of a third furnace at the PPG Sinoma Jinjing Fiber Glass Co. Ltd. joint-venture manufacturing site in Zibo, China.
