PPG ranked among ‘most admired’ by Fortune magazine

March 3, 2006 - PPG ranks No. 4 among chemical companies, for the second consecutive year, in Fortune magazine’s listing of America’s Most Admired Companies.

In compiling Fortune’s list of most admired companies, Hay Group consultants took the 10 largest companies (by revenues) in 65 industries, including foreign firms with large U.S. operations. They asked 10,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to rate the companies in their own industries based on eight criteria: innovation, financial soundness, employee talent, quality of management, use of corporate assets, long-term investment value, social responsibility, and quality of products/services.

Following are Fortune’s Top 5 Most Admired Chemical Companies for 2005 (with the prior year’s rankings in parentheses): 1. (3) DuPont; 2. (1) BASF; 3. (2) Dow; 4. (4) PPG; and 5. (5) Bayer.
