December 8, 2006 - PPG’s fiber glass business has been named by Masco Corporation a winner in the 2005 MASTAR (Masco Supplier Team Award Recognition) Program for the third consecutive year. In addition, it was named a “distinguished supplier” for 2006 by Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG).

The MASTAR Award Program, in its sixth year, recognizes and rewards excellence among Masco’s national supplier group in terms of quality, cost reduction, delivery, environmental health and safety, and responsiveness. PPG’s award is based on its supply of fiber glass from the Shelby, N.C., facility to AquaGlass, Mirolin, Watkins Spa and Milgard through Masco’s national contract program. PPG earned an overall average score from the four businesses in 2005 that was about 6 percent higher than in 2004.

“Our suppliers are a key element of our success. We expect them to adhere to the same high standards that we abide by, and we’re proud of their commitment to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership,” said Alan Barry, Masco’s president and chief operating officer.

“We’re very proud of winning this honor for a third straight year,” said Gary Bolen, director of business development, PPG fiber glass. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of personnel in fiber glass sales, the Shelby plant, customer service and product management who make possible PPG’s global leadership in fiber glass, with top-quality products and superior customer and technical service.”

Headquartered in Taylor, Mich., Masco Corporation is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of home improvement and building products, as well as a leading provider of services that include the installation of insulation and other building products.

PPG also was recognized with a distinguished supplier award by MFG, which has headquarters in Ashtabula, Ohio. The Shelby plant provides fiber glass to MFG for applications such as sheet-molded compounds made into trays and totes for the food industry, hoods and fenders for trucks, and other products.

Sally Neher, PPG fiber glass director of sales, Americas, expressed gratitude to fiber glass employees in Pittsburgh customer service and at Shelby for their “hard work and dedication to the business, and to serving MFG specifically. Keep up the good work, as we look to grow our relationship with this customer into the future.”
