Bunch elected chairman of National Association of Manufacturers

September 29, 2006 - Chuck Bunch, PPG’s chairman and chief executive officer, yesterday was elected chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers for the 2007-2008 term, commencing Jan. 1, 2007. Bunch has served as NAM’s vice chairman since October, 2005.

“During my tenure as chairman of NAM, I plan to focus on legislative results,” Bunch told NAM’s board of directors in Washington, D.C. “And, I want these results to enhance the value proposition of the association so that all American manufacturers – from high-tech firms to small manufacturers – will want to join us and participate in helping ensure the long-term viability of manufacturing in the United States.”

The issues upon which Bunch intends to focus include energy, transportation and the United States’ “crumbling infrastructure,” and legal reform.

NAM President John Engler said the organization “is indeed fortunate to have a leader of Chuck Bunch’s stature as chairman. Chuck is well known throughout the business community as an inspired manager and visionary leader. We all look forward to his chairmanship.”

NAM is the nation’s largest industrial trade association, representing large and small manufacturers in every industrial sector, and in all 50 states. For details, visit NAM’s Web site at www.nam.org.
