PPG hosts Leavitt, health-care roundtable September 1, 2006 - PPG hosted Mike Leavitt, U.S. secretary of health and human services, and a roundtable discussion on health-care issues last Friday at the company’s global headquarters.
PPG officials including Jim Diggs, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary; Dr. Alberto Colombi, medical director; and Tom Welsh, director of payroll and benefits, participated in the roundtable and discussed issues ranging from the quality and cost of health care, to the importance of being a knowledgeable health-care consumer, to President Bush’s executive order promoting quality and efficient health care. The event also included representatives from Pittsburgh area businesses and health-care providers.
Earlier in the week, the President issued an order directing government agencies to make publicly available, whenever possible, information about the cost of medical services received by patients participating in Medicare and other federal health-care programs.
