Two PPG coatings plants awarded Sony’s ‘Green Partner’ certification
August 3, 2006 - PPG has earned Sony Corporation’s “Green Partner” certification enabling it to supply industrial coatings to the electronics manufacturer and its vendors.
After passing stringent inspections by Sony auditors, PPG’s coatings plants in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA, and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, were awarded the special environmental certification for proper environmental management in manufacturing and supplying paints used on Sony products.
“We are extremely pleased with this certification,” said Rich Alexander, senior vice president, coatings. “It not only underlines our relationship with an important global customer, it’s also a tribute to PPG’s steadfast environmental commitment and performance at our manufacturing facilities around the world.”
In addition to endorsing PPG as a coatings supplier to Sony and its vendors around the world for its current electronics product line, the certification also “opens the opportunity for us to design future colors and finishes for future generations of Sony products that have not yet been invented,” according to Rodger Pelo, director of global development, industrial coatings.
