Foundation works with EHS to match donations to U.S. health organizations
July 6, 2006 – The PPG Industries Foundation will match employees' donations to two U.S. health organizations in support of PPG’s environment, health and safety (EHS) department's wellness education and awareness efforts in 2006.
Backing an EHS focus on women's health regarding heart disease and breast cancer this year, employee contributions made to the American Heart Association between July 1 and Sept. 1, as well as those made to the American Cancer Society between Oct. 1 and Dec. 1, will be eligible for the foundation's Matching Gifts Program. Employees’ donations to either the national organizations or local chapters will be matched to the same groups by the foundation.
“This partnership with EHS enables the foundation to support important wellness-oriented organizations that are not usually eligible under Matching Gifts Program guidelines,” said Sue Sloan, senior program officer, PPG Industries Foundation. "It offers another opportunity for PPG Industries Foundation to enhance the quality of life for employees and their families."
Dr. Alberto Colombi, PPG corporate medical director, said, "These matching gift opportunities provide an excellent base on which PPG wellness teams can build awareness programs about heart disease in women over the summer, and about breast cancer in the fall. We can help to increase employees’ knowledge about these important health issues while encouraging them to support two excellent health education and awareness organizations."
