PPG Industries Foundation Donates to ACS Scholars Program

September 20, 2005 - During the 230th American Chemical Society national meeting in Washington, D.C., ACS Executive Director and CEO Madeleine Jacobs and James D. Burke, ACS board chairman, recognized the PPG Industries Foundation as the first $1 million donor to the ACS Scholars Program. The foundation is founding sponsor of the 10-year-old program, which provides college scholarships to African American, Hispanic and Native American students who show promise in the chemical sciences. Lynne Schmidt, PPG vice president, government and community affairs, and Sue Sloan, PPG Industries Foundation senior program officer, represented the foundation.
