Crestline pairs with Toyota for reading center donation

August 1, 2005 - PPG’s Crestline, Ohio, automotive glass plant and Toyota each have donated $5,000 to the Culliver Reading Center in Mansfield, Ohio. The gift will be applied to the purchase of a Toyota Sienna minivan that will transport students to their after-school tutoring program. U.S. Rep. Michael G. Oxley contributed an additional $2,500 to the effort through the American Council for Excellence and Opportunity.

The Culliver Reading Center offers free tutoring for students in kindergarten through high school each weekday during the school year. Obtaining a van will allow the center to ensure that students in need of its services can take advantage of tutoring opportunities regardless of their transportation limitations, according to Angela Holt of Culliver. Additionally, the van will enable the center to offer a variety of educational opportunities to students through field trips and site visits.

"This donation demonstrates how PPG and Toyota are working together to support an important cause that makes a difference in the education of our children,” said Joe Stas, PPG vice president, automotive OEM glass. “The Culliver Reading Center is a non-profit organization that is an integral part of the community and provides a learning environment for children with its many different outreach programs."
