March 10, 2005 - Work is now underway to install a $40-million magnetic sputtered vacuum deposition system (MSVDS) at PPG’s Wichita Falls, Texas, flat glass plant. The system will expand capacity at the plant to meet the growing demand for low-emissivity glass and accommodate future generations of energy-efficient, high-performance products.
“This project is an important investment for our employees, plant, community and company overall,” said Susan Plies, plant manager. “In addition to helping PPG meet increased customer demand for low-emissivity glass, the new system will open doors to a ready market for products that we’ll make here for years to come.”
When the expansion is complete, scheduled for the first half of 2006, Wichita Falls will become the fifth PPG facility to make coated glass.
