Supply Chain - Supply Chain Risk Management

A transportation risk process is used to characterize and manage transportation risk. PPG uses this process to determine:

• Hazard characteristics of products 
   
• Appropriate modes of transport (e.g. rail versus highway) 
   
• Carrier selection and qualifications 
   
• Packaging and container specifications 
   
• Driver training requirements 
   
• Security precautions 
   
• Customer assessment  

In certain situations, further risk evaluations may be necessary to determine if additional risk reduction activities should be considered.
