Duranar® Coating Beautifies and Protects China's Tallest Building
September 14, 2007
SHANGHAI, CHINA: The world’s third-tallest building and the tallest on the Chinese mainland, the 101-story, 492-meter Shanghai World Trade Center, was topped-out September 14, 2007 as the last beam was laid.
Like other notable skyscrapers, including New York's Empire State Building, PPG's Duranar® metal coatings were selected to protect and beautify the structure. Two and three-coat Duranar coating systems cover more than 30,000 square meters of metal in colors of metallic blue and silver gray. PPG customer, Jiangying Yuhua was the coatings applicator for the project.
The building was designed by the world-renowned architectural firms of Kohn Pedersen Fox and SKF.
The world’s tallest free-standing structure is the Burj Dubai in the United Arab Emirates at 555.3 meters. Taiwan's Taipai 101 is the second-tallest building, reaching 508-meters. |
